Announcing Carlson Structural Engineering, Inc.
It has been 15 years since I changed jobs and even back then, I was asked “Why didn’t you just set out your own shingle.” Honestly, I was not opposed to the idea, but the timing was not right.
Today, July 12, marks the first day of operations for Carlson Structural Engineering, Inc, and the excitement is palpable. I am looking forward to continuing to do what I love and do best; helping clients solve their engineering related problems. This is what I have done for over 32 years and it has been so much fun that it never seemed like work.
Here are some things I can help with:
• Evaluation of defects in existing buildings involving façades, building coverings, and curtain wall systems.
• Water intrusion from either above or below-grade.
• Remediation of decaying structural components such as retaining walls, balconies, and parking structures.
• Expert testimony and transition/warranty studies
These services might be needed on large scale residential (condominiums, apartments), commercial (offices, warehouses), or historic properties. Working in the Washington, DC Metropolitan and Baltimore area offers such a wide range of building types and ages (I have worked on buildings from the Civil War Era to brand new) using almost every building material imaginable (cast iron to carbon fiber) that require some TLC and professional help.
Please check back often to learn more about what we are doing.
